In the mix of getting ready for this upcoming trip, doing interviews for The Ryan and Elliott Show and just plain old networking with other social strategist, I ran across a topic that varies in opinion from just about everyone; Should organizations block social networking sites from their employees during work hours?

I’ve read post before on the topic which usually ends up defending the employees, stating everyone should have access to social networking sites at work. I’m not saying that I disagree with this however, the more I talk with different individuals in the industry the more widespread the opinions get. This has varied from social media strategist limiting employee access while their implementing a strategy, companies afraid of productivity failure, risk of disgruntled employees and interestingly enough limiting employee access to train and educate them how to properly use social media outlets so they do not poorly represent the organization.

I’m in flux with the topic and I can truthfully see the pros and cons to both. I would like to hear your thoughts and maybe how your company is handling the situation. There could be multiple solutions for this question or maybe an overall solution.

He borrowed a camera for the trip and the audio didn’t come out that well with some of the videos so we’re rescheduling a few of those. We hope you enjoy and let us know if you have any comments.

I hope you like what we’ve put together so far and if you have any suggestions let us know. The main point of this video is to show that the human element of social computing is one of the most vital. We have another clip coming in mid week so keep your eyes pealed.

It’s been crazy lately and it’s about time that a do more of a personal blog post. Recently, we’ve just set a date for putting on a large show in Phoenix, AZ for my site Phoenix Local Music. It’s very exciting and at the same time there is a lot of work on my plate. However, we have a date April 18th and a location Yucca Tap Room, now it’s just lining everything up. I’m also pretty stoked because I’m flying up to Tahoe this week so I can get some snowboarding in before the season is over. It’s nice to be able to get out of the Valley every once in awhile especially since the heat will be setting in near future. This week I just launched another new project called “The Ryan and Elliott Show”. We have our first Episode up so take a look at let me know what you think.

On top of all of that I’m in full throttle putting together all of the pieces to coverage a group of people going down to Honduras to work with the natives. I’m extremely excited however I’m going to be straight up in the jungle with little access to power and internet which will be a challenge since I’m going to be broadcasting the whole event live via social media outlets. I just got a sat phone this week and I’m going to have to do some work getting that whole device set up and ready to go on this trip. Anyways that’s my quick update on what’s going on in my personal life. I’ll have more to report on shortly. Now I have to go get ready to have people over for the supper bowl. Go Cards!!!
