The Importance Of Story Telling; Manufactured Landscapes

Manufactured landscapes has been out for three years but I wanted to revisit it for people who haven’t had the time to watch this movie. You’ll see in the trailer the opening tracking shot through a Chinese factory where 23,000 employees make most of the world’s irons is absolutely mind boggling. The pictures, video and stories captured in this film is a witness to a cancer that’s visible only at a distance but entwined with the DNA of everything we buy and everywhere we shop.
Besides the opening scene you’ll start to see that our consumption habits are changing the landscapes of our earth. Most of all this video does what so many environmentalism miss; they tell a great story. Continually environmentalist are forcing facts or scare tactics to the public like the “Truth” campaigns to get people to stop smoking. In reality these tactics are just making the populous numb. Manufactured Landscapes does an amazing job at telling a story of our consumption habits and degradation to the environment in an artistic way that captivates your mind and soul. Take a moment and rent this video (hint you can watch the whole video on youtube as well).
